Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields will be helpful in order to become a Safety Officer. The Safety Officer must be trained and accredited by the Philippines DOLE in accordance with the DOLE Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Rule 1030. (Certified Safety Officer 3 – 40hrs BOSH Training + 48hrs Advanced/Specialized OSH Training). Additionally, Basic First Aid Training and Certification from a reputable NGO like Red Cross would complement/enhance the role.

Cost of Education and Training

By virtue of Republic Act 10931, undergraduate students accepted to SUCs are covered for free tuition and other school fees.

Private colleges and universities for BS in Industrial Engineering ranges from P43,000-P50,000 per semester

A minimum fee of P5,500 per trainee is fixed by OSHC for the safety training

Safety officer 3 (SO3) – Mandatory 40 hour osh training course applicable to the industry
Additional 48 hours of advanced /specialized occupational safety training course relevant to the industry
Safety officer 4 (SO4) – Mandatory 40 hour osh training course applicable to the industry
Additional 80 hours of advanced /specialized occupational safety training course relevant to the industry
A 320 hours of OSH Related training or experience.
