On 18 January 2023, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) convened a meeting with the Enchanted Kingdom, Inc., in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna to discuss partnership in the implementation of the JobStart Philippines (JSP) and the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), two DOLE youth programs aimed at enhancing the employability of young individuals and coordinating actions to offer chances and support for skill enhancement and long-term employment.
Present at the meeting are DOLE representatives Director Patrick P. Patriwirawan, Jr. and Mr. Christopher Oliva of the Bureau of Local Employment and Mr. Jorge Manuel Laude of DOLE CALABARZON, along with Enchanted Kingdom’s Chairman and President Cesar Mario Mamon, Chief Operating Officer Cynthia Mamon, HR Management and Admin Services Division Head Sheilah Morales, Learning and Development Department Head Pauline Barreiro, and Talent Management Department Head Mahree Sular.
The meeting kicked off with greetings and a focus on the importance of youth employment. The DOLE delegates set the stage by emphasizing the need to equip young individuals with the skills required in the professional world.
COO Cynthia Mamon, representing the Enchanted Kingdom, expressed the company’s interest in contributing to youth development through JSP and SPES. She highlighted how the amusement park environment provides a unique platform for learning and growth, aligning with the goals of these youth employability programs.
Discussions moved to the practical aspects of how Enchanted Kingdom could actively participate in these programs. The two parties talked through potential roles, emphasizing mentoring and training opportunities at the amusement park.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism about formalizing the potential collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The commitment to further discussions highlighted DOLE and Enchanted Kingdom’s dedication to creating a partnership that benefits the young workforce and contributes to regional socio-economic development. This meeting marked a significant step towards practical youth employability initiatives.
