In view of the continuous concerns faced by the tourism sector during the pandemic, the Department of Labor and Employment was invited by the Tourism Congress of the Philippines (TCP) in a forum held on 18 August 2021 to provide updates on the agency’s mitigating measures and regulations.

Undersecretary Ana C. Dione of the Regional Operations, Labor Standards and Special Concerns Cluster, and Assistant Secretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay of the Employment and General Administration Cluster acknowledged the plight of the tourism sector given the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed their continuous support for the recovery of the sector as one of the hardest-hit industries in the country.

ASec. Rubia-Tutay shared the recent policies and programs relating to the promotion of vaccination in workplaces, the Safety Seal initiative for establishments, and the entry of foreign nationals in the country vis-à-vis national government regulations. She also shared the President’s move to institutionalize the National Employment Recovery Strategy as the Philippine government’s master plan for the recovery of the pandemic-struck labor market.

Moving forward, they underscored the Department’s resolve in its focus towards the safe re-opening of the economy and continuous improvement of our labor market. The event, considered as the third engagement of the Department with the TCP and the Pacific Asia Travel Association Philippines, became a healthy exchange of concerns and suggestions towards navigating the new normal labor market.
